Claro is part of the Mexican telecom group America Mevil which is one of the four largest mobile phone network operators in the world, with more than 50 million customers. It serves clients in Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, the Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Puerto Rico and Uruguay. The brand was launched in Honduras on September 2006. Claro operates Honduras individual GSM/GPRS networks over 1900 MHz licenses. Claro Honduras launched the first UMTS 1900 MHz network in the country.
