Aritel is an Indian telecommunications company that operates in 20 countries across South Asia, Africa and the Channel Islands. It operates a GSM network in all countries, providing 2G, 3G and 4G services depending upon the country of operation. As of March 2012 Airtel HAS over 246 million subscribers across 20 countries. Airtel was launched in Kenya in 2000 as Kencell and rebranded to Zain in 2008 and finally Airtel in 2010. Airtel Kenya is the second largest operator and has 4 million customers.
